Progressive Beat Counseling
Written by D.E. on Jan 14, 2021 after counseling with Charles for 3 weeks on issues concerning addictions, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, and anger management
Charles is very easy to talk to. At times when I get too hard onto myself for things going on in my life, he reminds me of the positive things that I am not recognizing. I always feel much better after our sessions. Charles is down to earth, and I feel that I can speak with him as if he were a friend or close family advisor. He does a good job of putting things into perspective for me, and encourages me to see things from multiple points of view. Overall, it has been a positive experience, and good interaction.
Progressive Beat Counseling
April 2016 to Present
I have been a mental health counselor for more than 20 years, and I have been in Private Practice since April of 2016. I work with children, teens, adults, and couples. I provide counseling out of my office in Winter Park Florida, and I provide Telemental-Health Services.
Mental Health Counselor within a group home foster care setting
August 2006 to June 2016
This position is what kept me from pursuing private practice sooner. I simply loved working as a mental health counselor for the teenaged boys' cottage at a downtown foster care facility. It fed my passion and desire to help teens both survive their trauma while having a clear plan for independence and success later in life.
School Based Counselor
July 1999 to June 2016
I worked as a mental health counselor within the Orange County school system while working with Devereux. I have experience helping teachers, children, and their families. I have designed and facilitated after school and summer programs. I have experience helping children work through the issues involved with the school system today, such as bullying, test anxiety, self-esteem, and community violence.
Exceptional Education Teacher
August 1997 to June 1999
While attending grad school, I was an elementary school teacher. I gained a great deal of experience with designing lesson plans, developing and implementing behavioral management systems, and engaging in behavioral reinforcement with a variety of challenging behaviors.
